Who is Matt Ayres?
Hey, that’s me! I’m Matt, a copywriter specialising in content marketing for small businesses. I live in Cardiff, South Wales but work with clients from all over the world, thanks to the awesome connective power of the internet.
Having previously worked as an online journalist for publications including The Guardian and ShortList, I’ve learned what it takes for copy to grab (and keep) the attention of readers, rank high on Google and get shared on social media.
These days I’m lucky enough to work with a diverse group of small business owners who make the most of my writing and marketing skills by hiring me to make their content word-perfect.

When creative people come together, good things happen. I love teaming up with designers, photographers and other talented creatives to produce outstanding collaborative work.
3. Make friends, not contacts
One of the best things about running a business is getting to meet and collaborate with inspiring, hard-working people on a regular basis. I’d rather call these people friends than contacts.
4. Embrace the freedom of digital
Smartphones and laptops mean we can work from anywhere! I love remote working and taking my projects out and about, from creative coworking spaces to coffee shops.
5. Be yourself
Nobody does you better than you. My job as a copywriter is to help you find your unique voice – one that shows your target audience why you’re the best choice for them.
