Tools used by photographers, designers, illustrators and creative business owners

Does this sound like you?

You run a small business that combines your passion and skill with realistic expectations and achievable goals.

You’ve got a few projects on the go, but would love to attract more work that gives you that ‘I can’t believe I get to do this for a living!’ feeling.

Your business has a website, but something’s not quite right: your copy isn’t doing you justice. Writing isn’t something you enjoy or feel comfortable doing professionally. Plus you’re short on time, so the words usually end being rushed or pushed to the bottom of your to-do list.

You know that having a professional website and blog could increase your chances of winning the work you want. What’s more, you deserve to attract projects that you’re excited about and proud to be doing, without sacrificing the precious free time that makes all the hard work worth it.

And now you’ve discovered there’s a way you can achieve it: teaming up with a professional copywriter who specialises in working with entrepreneurs just like you.

Wait a second... that's me!

Matt Ayres, freelance copywriter and content creator

My name’s Matt. I’m a copywriter specialising in online content for small businesses.

Writing websites and blog posts is what I do best. Having previously worked as an online journalist for publications including The Guardian and ShortList, I’ve learned what it takes for copy to grab (and keep) the attention of readers, rank high on Google and get shared on social media.

These days I’m lucky enough to work with a diverse group of  business owners who make the most of my writing and marketing skills by hiring me to make their websites and blogs word-perfect.

Investing in professional copy is an essential part of online marketing. The content I write will help you to win the customers you want: people who respect what you do, who won’t grumble about not being able to afford your rates, and who you can’t wait to start working with.

“The quality of Matt’s work makes him stand apart from other copywriters. The content he writes is concise, clear and informative, with a balanced tone and a dash of humour. Handing over the reins is always a bit daunting, but we were in very safe hands with Matt. If you need tremendous copy turned around in a blink of an eye, he’s your man!”

My values

1. Find your purpose, and follow it

My purpose is to help business owners win the projects they're passionate about, providing them with awesome online content that connects them with their dream clients. What’s yours?

2. Collaborate with talented people

When creative people come together, good things happen. I love teaming up with designers, photographers and other talented creatives to produce outstanding collaborative content.

3. Make friends, not contacts

One of the best things about running a business is getting to meet and collaborate with inspiring, hard-working people on a regular basis. I’d much rather call these people friends than contacts.

4. Embrace the freedom of digital

Smartphones and laptops mean we can work from anywhere! I love remote working and taking my projects out and about, from creative coworking spaces to freelance-friendly cafés.

5. Be yourself

Nobody does you better than you. My job as a copywriter is to help you find your unique voice – one that reveals to your target customers why you’re the best choice for them.

“Matt is effortless to work with. He offers an easy, flexible and enjoyable process to acquire great quality copy. We all have our strengths in the creative work we do. Just as I would advise that design should be left to professionals, I recommend leaving copywriting to the professionals too. Matt is a pro.”
